Thank you for the blog post. Jones and I have already been sanivg for just a new e book on this topic and your post has made us all to save the money. Your opinions really responded to all our problems. In fact, above what we had known in advance of the time we discovered your wonderful blog.
I would guess that “big bets” in Sinofsky’s mouth means copying what the competition has done, and coming out with a solution several years after everybody else! This is a farce, and a disgrace.

As Google, Facebook, and many others have proved. Software engineering has evolved. Companies following the “waterfall” model are losing it. The major flaw with the model is the rampant bureaucracy it generates, which leads to less and less output from the engineers, and ultimately frustrates them to the point where the most creative go out.

Sinofsky’s blog is good, and very relevant, but ultimately but it should never be forgotten that customers buy “shipping products” not “plan”, nor “specs”. Getting great ideas quickly to market is today’s challenge. In software, winners takes all. Coming second is usually too late.

Thanks for the post. From my experience in large integration and software projects, I have found that one of the biggest challenges of these projects is the ability for everyone to understand and agree to a plan. This framework improves the ability to create communication and understanding.
